A musing

I noticed something today as i was walking home. It's something i often notice. The aesthetics of the natural world. Now i know some may think i mean things like amazing point's of view i.e. Everest etc But i don't. If you just spend one moment looking Truly looking at a natural occurence I would posit that you will see beauty. This may not be the case for others but it's certainly true for me. On the note of things i feel cause wonderment, the Stars. Have you ever just lay down on a clear night and gazed into heavens? This sight always fills me with amazement, to gaze into almost one percent of the universe and still be dwarfed by it's size. This might be an odd reaction but I am filled with gladness. Those who know me will likely know i have several metaphorical demons i wrestle with almost constantly. However when i am able to perceive the enormity of creation and consider how utterly insignificant life on our fair and wonderous planet is all i can think is "Fuck it why am i so concerned?" Again this view appears pessimistic however it gives me an existential hope as if earth is so small and so insignificant then i should just live to make myself happy and screw other shit. Well i seem to have rambled on for a pretty long time so i shall bid you fair readers adieu and good night.

  1. :D I love seeing the stars. I keep meaning to learn the constellations so I can tell what's what when you can actually see them; if it wasn't so cold when you could see stars I'd spend longer looking at them.

I get this a lot with a lot of things though; most of the time it happens to be the way the sun is in relation to something, or when it rains after it's been warm. Just general things that make the world feel really really good.

  2. NUMINOUS feeling dear as i've told you before.
& Yes i have. Once i went outside to say goodnight to Craig and ended up standing looking up at the stars...i think he thought i was wierd but nevertheless. Stars are utterly amazing as is many things in the world. But yeah i get every point you are saying as they are oh so true.
However, even though we may be insignificant compared to the largeness of our universe etc. it still doesn't mean we can't get caught up in our own little dramas. Just because there are loads of unfortunate people in the world, doesn't mean we can't get annoyed over little things which i am lead to believe is a basic human instinct as every single person gets annoyed over little things on a regular basis.

    So there :) xx

  3. I wasn't going to go into Numinous experience since tbh it's more to do with God that which i wasn't discussing today. However I see your point but in all fairness I was thinking about major issues with the gladness feeling rather than small annonyances. I am not trying to portray myself as some serene pretentious bastard who walks around always happy cause of stars :-P

  4. I saw two satellites a few days ago. It's interesting to watch them go by on their way all the way up there.
